Ingredients In American Natural Premium Basic Formula Chicken Meal - is dry rendered (as the chicken cooks, all of the water and fat is released and any bacterial contaminants are destroyed, creating a concentrated, highly digestible protein and face source).This process is a combination of clean flesh and skin, exclusive of feathers, heads, feet or entrails. Chicken meal is considered to be the single best source of protein. This ingredient is also very digestible and very appetizing for dogs. Brown Rice - is the whole rice kernel containing the nutrient rich bran with only the rice hull removed. Rice bran is rich in numerous nutrients like, carbohydrate, potassium,B vitamins, thiamin, niacin, protein, calcium, magnesium, and fatty acids. It also has more fiber and nutrients than white rice. White Rice - is the dehulled rice kernel, without the bran. In is whole form, it is an excellent source of complex carbohydrate, potassium, B vitamins, thiamin, niacin, protein, calcium and fiber. It is an easily digestible grain (easier than brown rice, which is why American Natural Premium, combines both in their food). White Rice is also the least likely to cause allergic reactions. It is also an anti diarrhea and helps to lower cholesterol. Barley - is a good source of dietary fiber, thiamin and selenium, and a very good source of manganese. Oat Flour - is a good source of thiamin, phosphorus, selenium, and also a very good source of Manganese. Pork Meal - is a new flavorful protein source not found in most foods. Potassium Chloride - is a pH adjuster in food, a chemical compound, KCI, a colorless or white, cubic crystalline compound that resembles common salt (sodium chloride). It is soluble in water, alcohol, and alkalties. Potassium plays various roles in metabolism body functions. It assists in the regulation of the acid-base balance and water balance in the blood and the body tissue. It contains 40% potassium and 60% chloride. It assists in protein synthesis from amino acids and in carbohydrate metabolism and is important in helping pet maintain proper acid-based balance. Vitamin A-Acetate - is a supplement that is added to almost all pet foods as a vitamin source. Vitamin A is sometimes labeled as vitamin A-Acetate and Vitamin D as cholecalciferol. Both of these fat soluble vitamins are required in the diet. It will also help the immune system. Vitamin D3 Supplement - regulates the body's calcium and phosphorus levels, mediator of immune function. Vitamin E Supplement - is a supplement that is added to almost all pet foods as a vitamin source. It sometimes is labeled as d-alpha-tocopherol acetate (natural preservative), antioxidant. It is a fat soluble vitamin, which is required in your pets diet. Vitamin B12 Supplements - is usually referred to on labels as vitamin B12, this B-vitamin is sometimes called by it chemical name cyanocobalamin.
